The studding site, sitting alongside a meandering river, a small private lake and surrounded by mature trees, provided unique opportunities for a new home. The concept was to create a simple modernist house that would amplify its beautiful setting.
The site is within an area at risk of flooding and provides an area of attenuation to ease water flow down river. This created a complex set of challenges to maintain the important role of the site, and satisfy the relevant authorities, whilst creating a contemporary home that nestles into its surroundings.
